Bring Me A Book offers three innovative programs that are easily replicated on a large scale.

These simple yet effective programs are community-focused, partnership-driven, and easily expandable.

Community-focused

Programs as individual as the community
Our partnerships with community organizations and school districts help us initially decide which sites to serve.  From there, we do our best to ensure that programs reflect the unique needs of the community we are serving.  The books placed in a Bookcase Library or a Book Bag Library cater to the ages, ethnic backgrounds, and languages of the community.  We place books in a variety of languages including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog.  Our First Teachers Trainers are fluent in various languages, allowing parents of many backgrounds to access our Workshops.

Partnership-driven

We can’t solve literacy challenges by ourselves.
We partner and work with existing community organizations in each area that we serve. Our local partners work with us to identify who needs our help and how we can best serve those needs.

To determine which sites need beautiful hardcover books, we partner with:

  • community organizations
  • school districts
  • individual educators

To fund the installation of libraries and management of First Teachers workshops, we partner with:

  • corporations
  • foundations
  • individual donors

To assemble our libraries and deliver our read-aloud curriculum, we partner with:

  • volunteers from the community
  • volunteers from partner organizations such as the Junior League, OneBrick, and Hands on Bay Area
  • teams of volunteers from corporations such as Cisco, Starbucks, and PricewaterhouseCoopers

And, lastly, to ensure that we are succeeding, we seek feedback from:

  • employees at the sites we serve
  • families visiting those sites
  • annual evaluations of our services and programs

Expandable

"The ripple effect"
Recognizing that we can’t do all the work ourselves, we’ve designed our programs to be easily expandable.  For instance, our First Teachers program uses a “Train the Trainer” model to multiply our read-aloud efforts.  Bring Me A Book trains a handful of community facilitators who will conduct First Teachers trainings at other sites.
