Challenge:

Two-thirds of low-income families have no age-appropriate books in the home.

Solution:

The Book Bag Library Program provides companies and non profit organizations with a lending library that is easy to install and maintain for children ages 0-13.  Families have easy access to a wide selection of the highest quality hardcover children’s books along with audio recordings to enhance reading skills and language acquisition.

Bring books into the home and reading becomes a family affair.

The program helps build many important benefits:
  • Family Literacy:  Creates awareness of the long-lasting value of learning and literacy when parents and childcare providers read to young children from infancy.
  • School Readiness:  Provides resources for parents to develop their children’s pre-literacy skills, which will impact future performance in school.
  • English Language Development:  Demonstrates that reading picture books is a proven tool for employees and their families who are English language learners.
  • Family Values:  Encourages a fun, daily ritual of parents reading to their children and a tradition that can be passed on to future generations.

Our reach has been felt in homes all over the United States, as well as in Yucatán, Guatemala, and Malawi.

"Everyone, including employers, needs to take responsibility and become actively involved in the education of our young people."
