Challenge:

More than 80% of low-income childcare centers lack age-appropriate books.

Solution:

The Bookcase Library Program provides bookcases of age-appropriate, culturally diverse, hardback books in multiple languages to children in underserved communities.  These libraries are placed in pre-schools, childcare centers, elementary schools, and community centers.

"Look at all these books!"

For children who haven’t been exposed to quality books, Bring me a Book’s Bookcase Libraries are pure magic. Bookcase Libraries are filled with 30 brand new, high-quality hardcover books representing the best in children’s literature. We place Bookcase Libraries (both books and bookcases) in:

  • state-funded preschools
  • child development centers
  • elementary schools

Bring Me A Book is unique.  Titles are carefully chosen to best reflect the background, age, and reading level of the communities we serve.  Each Bookcase Library comes with a plaque that recognizes the donor and bookplates recognizing both the donor and recipients.

Change a child’s future:

Funding a Bookcase Library or Replenishment Books is easy and affordable. Individuals, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs, foundations, and corporations have funded Bookcase Libraries and Replenishments all over California, the country, and the world.

Testimonials:

"These carefully chosen books sent to us are a huge part of our opening routine.  Children, as they arrive, choose books to look at and/or discuss with friends while sitting in large beanbag chairs or on our circle time carpet.  Additionally, parents who choose to stay a few minutes always end up reading to children who gather around."
—Pre-K Teacher, Oakland, CA

"Will you bring us more books because [our] school loves your books?  We can’t stop reading them."
—2nd grade student, Seattle, WA
