We received a Bookcase Library in the past, but now some of our books are missing or damaged. How do we replace them?

We take care to make sure that our books are long-lasting: we select only hardcover books, and protect them with plastic covering to make them more durable.  But we understand that books may be lost or damaged over time, especially when children love to read them over and over.  We have a replenishment program that qualifies you for a replacement set of books one year after the initial installation.

Once I submit my request to you, will I get a Bookcase Library immediately?

Finding donors to finance Bookcase Libraries is an ongoing process.  We are constantly working to find individual donors, community organizations, foundations, and corporations to fund our projects.  Submitting your information is just the first step in letting us know that you’re interested.  We’ll let you know when we match your site with a donor.

Who can receive a Bookcase Library?

We bring books to those who need them most. We focus on preschools, elementary schools, child development centers, and community centers in areas of greatest need.  Low API scores, percentage of low-income families, and percentage of students participating in a free or reduced lunch program are general indicators of need.

I’m interested in receiving a Bookcase Library. How can I get one?

Complete our BCL Classroom Recipient Request Form, and we’ll let you know if you qualify to receive a Bookcase Library.  If so, we’ll start the process of matching you with a donor who can finance your Bookcase Library installation.

I want to fund a Bookcase Library. How do I donate?

Thank you for your generosity! You can donate online right here, right now. Designate your funds for Bookcase Libraries ($700 for a small Bookcase Library; $800 for a large Bookcase Library).  Contact the Bookcase Library Manager, Leticia Gonzalez-Ratchev, to work together on a match.

If you have more questions, contact the Bookcase Library Program at BCL(at)bringmeabook.org.

What books will be included in my Bookcase Library? Can I choose them?

The Bring Me A Book staff takes the utmost care in selecting books for each site.  We do our best to customize the booklist for each Bookcase Library, keeping in mind the ages, languages, reading levels, cultural backgrounds, and special needs of the children at the site. Be assured that the books you will receive are the best of the best. We use extensive research to form our booklists, drawing from the American Library Association, the Hornbook Guide, Bankstreet College, Isabel Schoen, and Jim Trelease’s Read-Aloud Handbook.  We seek books that stir a child’s imagination and, most importantly, stories that a child will want to read again and again.  We especially look for books that are great for reading aloud.
